Today, Nemorith is live.

Before we tell you what it does, we want to tell you why it exists.

Most personal finance apps are free because you are the product. Your spending patterns, your income, your debt, your habits - that data is worth money. The app is the mechanism for collecting it. You get a budget tracker. They get a profile of your financial life.

We thought that was worth solving.

The Ninth Star Foundation is a nonprofit. We don't have a monetization model built on your data. We don't have investors who need a return. We have a mission: financial empowerment for everyone, and a hard belief that your financial life belongs to you and no one else.

So we built Nemorith.

WHAT IT IS

Nemorith is a complete financial command center. That phrase sounds big because it is. Here's what that actually means in practice:

You open the app. You connect your accounts via SimpleFIN or import a file. You see every dollar, every account, every liability, every asset in one place. That's the foundation.

From there, you can run a debt payoff engine that calculates avalanche and snowball strategies against your actual balances. You can run Monte Carlo retirement simulations across 1,000 scenarios to see where you actually land, not where a marketing page says you will. You can optimize a Roth conversion strategy with tax bracket visualization. You can compare Social Security claiming strategies side by side.

You can manage your estate. Track your insurance coverage gaps. Store encrypted documents in a vault. Map your trust lifecycle from revocable through succession and legacy stages.

There is an AI financial assistant built in. You bring your own API key, which means we never touch it and it never touches a server we control.

There is a receipt scanner with OCR. A net worth dashboard. 64 currency support. Ten themes.

This is not a budget tracker with a premium tier. This is the tool a financial planner would use, free, on your phone.

THE PRIVACY ARCHITECTURE

Every piece of data in Nemorith is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. Not uploaded to a server first. Not processed in the cloud. Encrypted locally, stored locally, and it stays there unless you choose to move it.

When you choose to sync across devices, Nemorith uses the Veydrin Community Network protocol, a device-to-device mesh that never routes your data through a central server. The encryption travels with the data. There is no point in transit where anyone, including us, can read it.

There is no account. No sign-up. No profile. Nothing to breach because there is nothing to store.

Every claim we make about privacy is verifiable. The full source code is published under AGPL-3.0 at codeberg.org/NinthStarFoundation/nemorith. If you want to read the encryption implementation yourself, it's there.

WHY FREE

We get this question a lot: how does a nonprofit sustain a free app?

The honest answer is that right now, Nemorith is funded by mission. NSF exists to build tools that serve people, and Nemorith is one of them. Long term, a commercial licensing path exists for institutions like credit unions who want to offer Nemorith to their members under their brand. That revenue funds the free version staying free.

We will never put Nemorith's core features behind a paywall. That is a design constraint, not a promise we'll walk back when growth pressure hits. We don't have shareholders.

GET IT

Nemorith is available now on the Google Play Store and at nemorith.com.

It is free. It is open source. It is yours.

If Nemorith matters to you, the most useful thing you can do is share this. Word of mouth is the only marketing budget a nonprofit has.

Built by the Ninth Star Foundation.
